TOP CNC MACHINING SERVICE PROVIDER IN CANADA 2023

Delivering State-of-the-art CNC Machining Capabilities

Carrying over four decades of experience, Advanced Control Systems Corporation.

(ACS) is a household name and a testament to Canadian ingenuity and excellence in manufacturing and CNC machining.

A passion for snowmobiling was the initial spark that led ACS to start building snowmobile runners for the personal use of its racers. The entire snowmobiling community soon realized the potential and efficacy of these runners, resulting in a rising demand for ACS runners across the board.

This was the catalyst that transformed this hobby machine shop into a full-fledged production unit building new product lines, including snowmobile wear parts and various maintenance tools.

Over the years, ACS has created a strong reputation via the powersports distribution channels by producing cost-effective, quality products.

By 2010, ACS was a premium manufacturer within the Canadian market whose reins had shifted to Ulisses DeOliveira, president and CEO, who saw the need for greater production capacity and started expanding the company’s plant space. He hired additional employees and brought new support equipment and CNC machines, blades, and support equipment that increased its manufacturing volumes. This helped ACS expand beyond the scope of the powersports industry and start manufacturing components for electrical transmission, swing stage, conveyor and packaging, mining, and alternative energy equipment.

“Our goal is to deliver quality parts to clients, keep their machines in good shape, and offer world-class accessories to improve performance. In doing so, we leverage cutting-edge technologies, employ dedicated, skilled professionals and technical experts, and partner with leading parts and accessories suppliers. We also pride ourselves on being recognized as a Tier 2 supplier by Hydro One and Toronto Hydro and are ‘Proudly Made in Canada’ and ‘Ontario Made,” states De Oliveira.

Over the years, ACS has grown organically, mostly via word-of-mouth, which speaks volumes about its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. It is renowned for its high-quality products, cost-competitiveness, and full-service capability of taking client projects from design, prototyping, and pre-production to mass production. It has the ability to do everything from machining, assembly, and welding in-house and ensures it subcontracts with local contractors, so all its products are Canada-made.

In addition, ACS works with clients to address any technical challenges they face, like developing a new product according to unique specifications or solving the overheating problem in snowmobiles. A significant distinction for ACS is its unique approach to machining, where it does not have any minimum lot requirements, allowing it to cater to client demands, whether a one-of-a-kind part or a million of them. It can turn, weld, and mill any material or plastic, including titanium, steel, aluminum, and hard plastics. ACS can also easily weld any material, perform induction welding, and produce large assemblies.

However, what truly stands out about ACS is its dedication to research and development. It participates in the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED), a federal tax incentive program, every year to receive funding from the government for developing new products and improving its existing processes. A fitting example of this is it’s ongoing project to develop experimental aircraft for crop irrigation and pesticide application.

This initiative aims to provide farmers with an effective and affordable alternative to hiring expensive airplanes and pilots for applying the required pesticides on their farmlands, saving them money and improving their crop yields.

In addition to these R&D efforts, ACS is keenly interested in successfully executing challenging and unique projects in Canada and overseas. In one such instance, it assisted a Saudi Arabian client in their tower maintenance work. It developed a specialized collapsible aluminum cube with a retractable bottom that could easily be transported and positioned at the base of electrical towers instead of using traditional cement blocks, which were difficult to transport and set up. This made the process of tower maintenance more efficient and increased their productivity significantly.

ACS has made a lasting mark in the industry with its extensive industry experience and drive for innovation, for which it received the prestigious Manufacturing Spotlight Award from Ontario Made program, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) in February 2023.

Aside from its manufacturing prowess, ACS is also renowned for its endeavors to give back to the community. As such, the company is one of the benefactors working toward sponsoring children from low-income families to experience the life-changing wonder of summer camp across Ontario by supporting Sledheads 4 Kids, the ultimate test of snowmobiling endurance.
