About Our Company

1978 saw Advanced Control Systems Corporation (ACS) begin as a small hobby machine shop producing snowmobile runners for the personal use of its race team. Friends and competitors were soon asking for ACS runners which had quickly grown in reputation as word spread through the local snowmobiling community.

This increase in demand sparked the natural progression of transitioning the hobby into a business, and our runners became a regular production item. As the company grew, other product lines were added. This included more snowmobile wear parts and a selection of maintenance tools, to great success.

Manufacturing a quality product at a competitive price helped grow the ACS brand through Canadian Powersports distribution channels. We also have a long standing product development and manufacturing partnership with Yamaha Canada which has helped solidify our reputation as a premium manufacturer. This in turn led to private-label packaging of ACS products as an offering to a growing base of OEM manufacturers and Powersports Distributors.

Continued growth saw a need for greater production capacity. Larger plant space was secured, additional employees hired, support equipment added and CNC machines with greater manufacturing volumes were purchased. This increase in overhead coupled with a specialty, seasonal product required that ACS broaden its customer base, product/service offerings and variety of materials worked with. New relationships were developed outside of the Powersport industry which led us to manufacturing components for Electrical Transmission, Swing Stage Equipment, Conveyor & Packaging Equipment, Mining Equipment and Alternative Energy Equipment. These long standing partnerships saw the need for us to add MIG & TIG welding along with some light assembly.

 ACS is certified to:

  • CSA standard W47.1 fusion welding of Steel in division 3.
  • CSA standard W47.2 fusion welding of Aluminum in division 3.
  • All welding in accordance with CSA STD W59.1 latest edition.

In recent years we have been involved in R&D with several clients through participation in Federal Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) programs.

ACS is proudly recognized as a Tier 2 supplier by Hydro One and Toronto Hydro and as such, we received status as an essential workplace during these extremely difficult times of Covid.

ACS continues to evolve and adapt to an ever changing manufacturing landscape. The pressures from low-cost off-shore manufacturers is constant, but we manage to hold our own by offering flexibility in our production, quality and accountability.

We view it as an honour to place “Proudly Made in Canada” and “Ontario Made” on our packaging and will continue to do so for many years to come.
